When I designed the new Cyberbike Raptor, I didn't want to design a bicycle that fit neatly into one category.
I wanted to build the bike I would want to own.
A serious full-suspension mountain bike that I could take onto a trail and ride hard. But also a bike I'd want to ride down the road, take into town, load onto the back of a car for a weekend away, or equip with a rack and disappear on for an entire day.
And just as importantly, I wanted it to be the best-looking eBike on the market while also being one of the most capable at doing all of those things.
Most bicycles are designed around a category. Mountain bikes belong on trails. Commuter bikes belong on pavement. Touring bikes are built for distance. Utility bikes carry things. And many eBikes sacrifice the handling and appearance of a real bicycle in order to accommodate batteries, motors and accessories.
The Cyberbike Raptor was designed differently.
It starts as a serious full-suspension electric mountain bike — with the chassis, suspension, brakes, drivetrain and mid-drive power to tackle real trails. But that capability is only part of what makes the Raptor special.
Add a rack. Add integrated lighting. Equip the optional throttle. Load up for an all-day ride. And with the upcoming Cyberbike Connect app, you'll be able to track your rides and see where your Raptor has taken you.
A Mountain Bike That Doesn't Look Out of Place Anywhere
Versatility usually comes with compromise.
Build a bike around utility and it tends to look utilitarian. Build it around comfort and performance suffers. Build it purely for the trail and everyday riding can become inconvenient.
I didn't think those compromises were necessary.
The Raptor combines these roles while retaining something I've always believed matters in the machines we own: it should look exceptional doing them.
Its sculpted aluminum chassis, integrated battery, internal cable routing and carefully considered graphics give the Raptor a distinctive presence without turning it into an oversized, appliance-like eBike.
It looks like a premium performance bicycle because that is what it was designed to be. And underneath that appearance is a platform capable of considerably more.
130 Nm Changes Where You Can Go
At the center of the 2026 Raptor is the Ananda M100 mid-drive motor producing up to 130 Nm of torque.
Unlike a hub motor, a mid-drive delivers power through the bicycle's drivetrain. That allows the motor to take advantage of the Raptor's gearing just as the rider does.
On a steep trail, that means serious climbing capability. On rolling roads and bike paths, it means efficient assistance at speed. Loaded with gear, it means having the torque available when the terrain starts pointing upward.
The result isn't simply more power. It's usable power across a much wider range of riding.
720Wh of Freedom
The Raptor's removable 48V 15Ah / 720Wh battery gives riders the energy capacity for genuinely long days in the saddle.
Actual range always depends on terrain, rider weight, speed, assist level and how aggressively the motor is used, but the Raptor is designed for rides extending far beyond the neighborhood.
And because the battery is removable, charging doesn't require bringing the entire bike indoors.
Ride it to work. Explore a rail trail. Spend the afternoon in the woods. Take it along on vacation.
The Raptor doesn't dictate what kind of ride you're supposed to have.
Add the Rack and Go
For riders who want to turn their Raptor into a genuine adventure or transportation machine, Cyberbike offers a secure four-bolt rear rack.
Add panniers or a rack bag and suddenly the Raptor can carry groceries, work gear, camera equipment, a change of clothes, tools or everything needed for a long recreational ride. Remove the gear and you're back to a clean, aggressive full-suspension eMTB.
No permanently bulky cargo-bike architecture required.
Integrated Lighting Without the Afterthought
The optional Cyberlight™ connects directly to the Cyberbike electrical system and is operated through the bike's handlebar controls.
No separate batteries to remember. No light strapped awkwardly to the handlebar. No discovering halfway home that you forgot to charge it.
For riders using the Raptor beyond daylight trail rides, integrated lighting turns an accessory into part of the bicycle.
Pedal When You Want. Throttle When You Need It.
The Raptor is fundamentally a pedal-assist eBike, preserving the natural riding experience that makes a good mid-drive bicycle so enjoyable.
But Cyberbike also offers an optional variable thumb throttle.
There are moments when simply having power available at your thumb is remarkably useful — getting moving again, maneuvering the bike, taking a brief break from pedaling or simply enjoying a different kind of ride.
Full Suspension Isn't Just for Mountain Biking
Suspension is usually discussed in terms of rocks, roots and jumps. There's another benefit: comfort.
Broken pavement, potholes, gravel roads, washboard surfaces and long days in the saddle all become easier to tolerate when both wheels are suspended.
The Raptor combines 140mm of front suspension travel with 120mm at the rear, giving it genuine trail capability while making rough everyday surfaces remarkably uneventful.
Its 29-inch wheels further improve rollover and stability.
That combination makes the Raptor equally happy when the pavement ends unexpectedly — which is exactly when many conventional touring and commuter bicycles become less happy.
Cyberbike Connect: Remember Where the Bike Takes You
There's another part of riding that I've wanted to bring into the Cyberbike experience: the ride itself shouldn't disappear when you get home.
Our upcoming Cyberbike Connect app is being developed to let Cyberbike owners track their rides, creating a record of where they've been and the miles they've covered.
For a bike designed around exploration, that matters.
A quick morning ride becomes a route. A weekend adventure becomes something you can look back on. Over time, you begin to build a history of the places you've explored on your Cyberbike.
The Raptor is a connected electric bike, but I don't want technology getting between the rider and the experience. The idea behind Cyberbike Connect is the opposite: use the technology to make the experience more useful and memorable.
Your Ride Doesn't Need a Category
This may ultimately be the Raptor's greatest strength.
You don't have to decide that you're a mountain biker, commuter, recreational cyclist or adventure rider before choosing your bike. You might be all of them.
That's really what I had in mind when I designed it.
Ride trails in the morning. Put something on the rack and run an errand in the afternoon. Explore miles of back roads the next day. Take it camping. Bring it to the beach. Ride into town.
Or forget the destination altogether and see where the road goes.
I designed the Cyberbike Raptor for riders whose idea of a great bike is simply one they want to ride — wherever they happen to be going.
